Popeye goes to London!
"Prices are high, and the yen is weak. It's true that going abroad isn't a good idea.
But after hearing stories from my friends in London, I finally couldn't sit still any longer.
A select shop that's only open on Saturdays, a skate park converted from a public bathhouse, the best shirt shop in Piccadilly Arcade, galleries packed with young people, and incredibly tasty sandwiches.
I could look it up on my smartphone, but I wouldn't feel like it was truly mine unless I saw, heard, and touched it.
It was around that time that a senior member of the editorial team told me that the first issue of Popeye magazine could have featured London instead of California.
If that had happened, what kind of clothes would we be wearing now, and what kind of news would we be following?
I couldn't wait any longer, so I bought a ticket to London.
